The final short track speed skating events of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games were held on Friday.

The Canadian powered to Olympic gold in the men’s 500m short track speed skating final at Milano Cortina 2026, holding off Dutch duo Melle van ’t Wout and Jens van ’t Wout in a dramatic sprint finish.

With 26 Olympic gold medals to date, short track speed skating has traditionally been Korea’s strongest Winter Olympic event. But at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, the top prize has proved elusive.

Corinne Stoddard made history as the first American woman to win an Olympic short track medal since 2010, claiming bronze in the 1500 meters at the Milan Cortina Olympics.
