Pacemakers and defibrillators have a growing use in pediatrics and in patients with congenital heart disease, but they present unique problems and implications for their implantation and follow-up.

Minneapolis-based Medtronic said on Monday it is stopping distribution of its pacemaker defibrillator wires for a fracture problem that may be linked to five patient deaths and health difficulties.
